COMMENT: Bob's Excellent Asian Junketing.
Dear A-Letter Reader:
As a member of the US House of Representatives (1973-81), I was one of
the most conservative in my voting records. Against big spending, big
government, and big political promises, I agreed with my late colleague
and good friend, Rep. John Ashbrook of Ohio, who used to say: "Vote no
in Congress and 99.9% of the time you're right." Rep. Ron Paul carries
on that libertarian tradition today, God bless him.
One day many years ago I was speaking in the House against excessive
costs of congressmen junketing all over the world during an
appropriation debate. My liberal Democrat colleague, John Burton, a
friend, followed me and produced a huge photo of the two of us standing
on the Great Wall of China at Ba Da Ling. What could I say? Exposed!
True, 25 years ago I went to China at the insistence of the House
Republican Leader, the late John Rhodes of Arizona. John explained
that the House delegation going to China as the last of Pres. Nixon's
"Shanghai Communiqué Exchanges" was loaded with liberals and a
rightist balance was needed -- I was the right-wing ballast.
This coming weekend I leave for a month long Sovereign Society journey
to China, Hong Kong, Thailand and Singapore. Along the way I'll be
looking for new offshore banking, investment and professional contacts
for our members and for you, dear readers. The China-Hong Kong leg of
my trip is a special Sovereign Society Far East Financial Expedition,
Nov. 10-20 that makes up a large part of my Asian travels. If you'd like
to join me, there's still time, click right here:

In the last eight years I have posted A-Letters to you from South
Africa, Canada, Panama, the U.K., France, the Czech Republic, Hungary,
Romania and lots of other places. I was joking with a friend that I
travel a lot more now than I did in Congress -- and it doesn't cost
the American taxpayers anything -- hopefully my travel contributes to
your sum of knowledge and your greater freedom, while creating more
profitable investments for you.
So I am off to Singapore first, via the US west coast and Tokyo, (if
Hurricane Wilma doesn't interfere). Then Bangkok, Beijing, Shanghai and
Hong Kong.
Maybe I'll meet you along the way, but in any case, I'll be sending
in my comments as I go. Dan Aponte, my faithful editorial assistant,
will be holding down the home office here in Florida, along with the
Sovereign Society staff, hard workers all. You'll be reading some of
my vintage Comments while I'm gone, along with guest Comments
from distinguished experts, such as Mark Nestmann, Sean Brodrick,
and others I know you'll enjoy.
And by the way, yesterday I became a grandfather for the fifth time;
my oldest daughter, Eugenie Marie, gave birth to 6 lb. Finbarr Rock
Eardley, a healthy, beautiful blonde boy who shares his parents Irish
heritage. Yet Another good reason to come home to America for
Thanksgiving.
That's the way it looks from here.

HOW YOU CAN RIDE THE COMING FINANCIAL SHOCK WAVE
The global derivatives market has soared from just over $1 trillion
to a staggering $248 trillion, according to the Bank of International
Settlements. What's more disturbing, is that nearly 1/3 rd of these
derivatives are concentrated in the hands of just 3 American banks.
One bad move...one unexpected crisis...could blow these banks'
delicately balanced derivatives portfolios off their axis and spin
world markets into an unprecedented collapse. But you can protect your
portfolio - and potentially reap huge gains - by accessing "secret"
financial opportunities that are set to soar when the derivatives
bubble bursts...
