Dear A-Letter Reader:
Today I'm in Ireland at the first Sovereign Society Wealth Protection Summit. This event is limited to only about 30 Sovereign Society members, plus a distinguished group of Sovereign Society's Council of Experts - professionals from all from across the world - Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Panama, the U.S., Canada, the Isle of Man, Austria and Denmark. We'll be here talking estate planning and asset protection until Sunday, when our participating members will start their journey home with a new set of keys to their financial future.
I haven't written to you from the road since my month long journey late last year to Singapore, Thailand, China and Hong Kong. Although I had a long weekend for Sovereign Society Freedom Forums in Seattle and San Diego recently, today I am at Dromoland Castle in County Clare on the west coast of Ireland. It's eight miles from Shannon Airport, where I flew in from Boston early yesterday morning (6 AM local time) on Aer Lingus.
Nestled in between the Atlantic Ocean and the River Shannon, County Clare is what foreign tourists expect and hope to see when they visit Ireland. (An American lady on the airplane was reading
Ireland for Dummies! )
County Clare is renowned for its landscape with the wild Atlantic cliffs on its west side and the magnificent blue-gray River Shannon on the east. The town of Ennis, nearby, is known as the Irish music capitol and musicians throng from around the world to partake in song and dance and other Irish pleasures.
Driving in through the early morning mist and fog, through lush green fields and pastures edged with thousands of carefully placed ancient stone walls and passing through the village of Newmarket-on-Fergus, I could see why County Clare is known for history and tradition - and Dromoland Castle is at the heart of that history.
The Dromoland Castle is a magnificent example of Renaissance architecture built in the 16th century and is one of Ireland’s premier castle resort hotels. According to Burke's Peerage, it is one of the few Estates tracing its history to native Gaelic Irish families of royal heritage. This was the ancestral seat of the Clan O'Brien, direct descendants of Irish King Brian Boru (940-1014 AD)Boru was granted the title "Ard Ri", meaning "High King" because he was the first and last king to effectively unite all of Ireland under one government - a struggle that goes on to this very day.
The Sovereign Society members have gathered here this week for an unusual, intimate offshore wealth and asset protection "summit" with private, one-on-one meetings with the Sovereign Society experts present. Each of the experts, including myself, are striving to assist with each attendee's personal asset protection planning needs, from beginning to end.
According to
The Economist I was reading on my trans-Atlantic fight over, a saying has developed in strife-torn Northern Ireland among Catholics and Protestants who want to downplay prejudice. This saying goes: "Whatever you say, say nothing."
That may sound like what we hear from American politicians, but I can assure you, the numerous, multi-faceted discussions at Dromoland Castle will provide plenty of substance for the perceptive people who have chosen to join us here. - And for their future.
That's the way that it looks from here in Ireland,
BOB BAUMAN, Editor
