RSS Feed (Really Simple Syndication)

What is RSS?

Really Simple Syndication (RSS) is a simple way to monitor fresh web content. RSS feeds highlight new material so you don't have to repeatedly check a site for updates. When new information appears on The Sovereign Society, our corresponding RSS feeds are updated and your RSS reader alerts you of the new content.

RSS feeds are usually identified by the following button Typical RSS button because they are distributed in XML (Extensible Markup Language) format.

How do I use RSS?

News Readers

It's easy; all you need is a News Reader!  There is an assortment of different News Readers available and News Readers work on different operating systems, so you will want to take this into account when you make your selection.

These News Readers can be downloaded by clicking on the following links listed below.

You can subscribe to RSS feeds in a number of ways, including the following:

  • Drag the Typical RSS button into your News Reader
  • Drag the URL of the RSS feed into your News Reader
  • Cut and paste the URL of the RSS feed into your News Reader

Add RSS to My Yahoo! and Google

After copying a shortcut link from an XML button, click "Add Content" on your My Yahoo! page.      A link will appear on the following page labeled "Add RSS by URL." Click that link and paste the RSS shortcut into the text box and then click "Add." More information is available at Yahoo! on their RSS Headlines Module page.

After copying a RSS shortcut link from a XML button, click "Add content" or "Personalize your Google homepage" on your Google homepage. Click "Create a Section" in the list that appears and a text box will be displayed for you to "enter a feed." Paste your RSS shortcut into the text box and click "Go."  You can drag and drop to rearrange your Google page. Get more information at Google in their Homepage help section.
